Chester’s International
Signs First Franchise Agreement for Birmingham Area -Local Expansion Program off to Quick Start,
Room for More than a Dozen Still to be Developed-
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – December 14, 2005 –
Chester’s International, LLC, an emerging leader of quick service
restaurant (QSR) concepts nationally, announces today a franchise agreement
with the Vision Investment Group, LLC to develop Chester’s restaurants
in the Birmingham, Alabama area. This is the first of what is expected
to be several agreements to develop Chester’s restaurants in and
around Birmingham, which is home to Chester’s International’s
global headquarters.
Under the terms of
the relationship, the Birmingham-based investment firm Vision Investment
Group will develop five Chester’s franchises in the Southwestern
portion of the Birmingham metropolitan area including downtown Birmingham.
The development schedule calls for two in-line stores to be opened in
2006, and the remaining three in-line stores will be opened over the following
three years.
“After considerable
growth of the Chester’s franchise concept in the last year, we set
out in October to expand our presence right in our own backyard, Birmingham,”
said Russ Cooper, President of Chester’s International. “Finding
the right partner is vital, and we’ve got that with the Vision Investment
Group. They bring the perfect compliment of local knowledge and entrepreneurial
smarts that will no doubt lead to great success of their Chester’s
franchises here in Birmingham.”
The Vision Group includes:
Claude Brunson, Eddie Dowdell, Thomas Porterfield, Jr., Pamela Vickerstaff
and Terrance D. Vickerstaff. All five members are native Alabamians, two
of which currently reside in Birmingham. The group was attracted to Chester’s
great tasting food, strong operating system, and excellent potential for
return on investment.
“Chester’s
has all of the qualities that make up a solid franchise system,”
said Eddie Dowdell, of the Vision Investment Group. “Chester’s
has a great national brand with solid localities, and it all evolves around
a great product. We are proud to operate their first franchised stores
here in Birmingham, and look forward to great success.”
This is the Vision
Investment Group’s first franchise investment, and their stores
will be the first franchised Chester’s in Alabama. The company currently
operates six licensed stores in the state. In October of this year, Chester’s
announced its intention to open fifteen to twenty franchised stores in
the Birmingham area. The agreement of the Vision Investment Group is the
first under this initiative. Chester’s anticipates awarding additional
franchise territory for another 10-15 restaurants in Birmingham and its
surrounding areas.
“We continue
to aggressively pursue our local expansion in Birmingham, and are looking
for quality groups of franchisees such as the Vision Investment Group
to be our partners,” said Mr. Cooper.
