Buffalo’s Southwest
Cafe Franchise Brightens the Holidays with Make-A-Wish
MARIETTA, Ga., Nov. 30, 2005 – Thanks
to Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama
and Georgia, this holiday season will be merrier for 4-year-old Xavier
and his family.
As a sponsor for the
Foundation’s “Stories of Light,” in which a floor of
the BellSouth tower in Midtown Atlanta is lit every time enough donations
are made to grant another child’s wish, Buffalo’s has been
able to make Xavier’s wish come true. At the age of 3, Xavier developed
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Fortunately, it was caught very early, and Xavier
is now in remission. Being a kid with great imagination, Xavier chose
to use his wish to visit a place where a child’s imagination comes
to life ? Disney World! Additionally, the entire family had fun outings
to Universal Studios and Sea World, where Xavier got to meet some friendly
dolphins. This was a wonderful chance for a family to have fun together,
and to count their blessings for the health of their beautiful child.
This month, throughout
Atlanta, Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe is inviting customers to help
make more children’s wishes come true during the holidays. From
Dec. 3-17, diners at Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe can donate to Make-A-Wish
by purchasing special paper snowmen for $1 each, which will be displayed
in the restaurants throughout the season. Each paper snowman contains
a story of a “wish” child on the back.
This is not the first
time Buffalo’s Southwest Cafe has helped Make-A-Wish raise money
for terminally ill children. The restaurants have a history of participating
in Make-A-Wish events, ranging from in-store fundraisers and donations
to employees donning their running shoes for the Make-A-Wish “Walk
for Wishes.”
Buffalo’s Southwest
Cafe has 19 locations throughout metro Atlanta.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation
grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions
to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Born in 1980,
when a group of caring individuals helped a young boy fulfill his dream
of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting
charity in the world, with 72 chapters in the United States and its territories.
Granting more than 12,000 wishes a year and more than 132,000 wishes in
the United States since inception, the Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates
“25 Years of Making Wishes Come True” in 2005.
