(Lake Forest, CA) Aug. 23,
2005 – Del Taco today announced it has signed a franchise development
agreement for three new restaurants within the Washington counties of
Walla Walla, Benton, Franklin and Yakima. The agreement increases Del
Taco’s planned number of restaurants in Washington to 21.
The new franchisee, Del Quatro,
LLC, is composed of three entrepreneurs who grew up on Del Taco in southern.
Jerald A. Hanson, C. Carleton Wallace and Theodore K. Stream first expressed
their interest in a Washington franchise agreement five years ago after
Hanson relocated to Walla Walla.
“Washington is a wonderful
area, and the only thing missing was Del Taco,” said Jerald Jerry
A.Hanson who grew up in Riverside, Calif. “It’s the one restaurant
an entire family can agree on with the right quality and variety of food.”
“We are pleased to welcome
franchisees who are so passionate about the brand,” said Marc Mushkin,
senior director of franchising at Del Taco.
Beyond their familiarity with
the brand, Hanson credits Del Taco’s high sale volume as part of
what makes Del Taco a great business opportunity. Del Taco’s average
unit volume is significantly higher than the No. 1 chain in its category.
The popular chain offers menu
items that appeal to a broad range of tastes with a strong emphasis on
quality and value. The menu includes Mexican offerings of tacos, burritos,
quesadillas and nachos as well as American favorites like fresh, grilled-to-order
hamburgers, crinkle-cut fries and milk shakes. Each item is made to order
only when the customer orders it with many quality ingredients including
lard-free beans made from scratch daily, real cheddar cheese grated on
site, chicken grilled fresh every hour, hand-made salsa and fresh produce.
Recently, Del Taco added the
Crispy Fish Taco to its menu and it immediately became one of the chain's
biggest selling items
Del Taco was founded
in 1964 and is a privately held company that operates or franchises more
than 445 Mexican quick service restaurant locations throughout the United
States. The company has been on an aggressive campaign to grow beyond
its Southern California roots, continuing to expand in markets throughout
the west while opening new markets in Michigan, Illinois and Missouri.
