Rockn’ Joe Receives License to Franchise
Coffeehouse & Bistro to Begin Offering Franchises in Tri-State Area; Targets Five Locations in ‘05

CRANFORD, NJ – April 27, 2005 – Rockn’ Joe Coffeehouse and Bistro – the purveyor of specialty coffees and sandwiches in the coolest atmosphere – today received its Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC), making it possible for the company to immediately begin selling franchises to investors.

“This is a landmark day in the history of Rockn’ Joe,” said Kevin Brennan, company CEO, who founded his coffeehouse 11 years ago in downtown Cranford. “We’ve had strong interest from all over the tri-state area, asking when we will open a franchise near them. Now we’re ready.”

According to the National Coffee Association, daily consumption of specialty coffee among adults is at record highs and continues to increase every year. More than 55 percent of Americans adults say they regularly drink specialty coffee.

Coffeehouses in the United States are more popular than ever, with 11,250 locations nationally averaging $550,000 in annual sales. The specialty coffee industry has grown to a $6.12 billion industry, according to the Specialty Coffee Association of America. The total coffee market, including cafes, kiosk, carts and retailers was at $8.96 billion in 2003, nearly a $1.5 billion increase from 1999.

The UFOC, available at corporate headquarters in Cranford, is a federally-mandated disclosure form that all franchise companies must present to potential franchisees about their respective companies and the potential risks. The UFOC includes a full audit of Rockn’ Joe, as well as the costs associated with opening a franchise.

In recent months, Rockn’ Joe officials worked with independent accountants, franchise experts and other professionals to ensure the UFOC provides potential investors with a clear and detailed analysis of the company.
