DICKEY'S BARBECUE PIT EXPANDS IN EAST TEXAS, OPENS LOCATION IN NACOGDOCHES

The Country's Largest Growing Barbecue Chain Branches Out In Piney Woods

(NACOGDOCHES, Texas) Dallas-based Dickey's Barbecue, the largest and fastest-growing barbecue chain in the country, is well-known for their 10 hot pit-smoked barbecue meats, free ice cream and free big yellow cups— with one location in Longview and an area development agreement in the works, Dickey's is expanding in East Texas, opening a restaurant in Nacogdoches at the end of June.

Dickey's is growing at a rapid pace opening 40 stores since early 2009.

Forty-six stores are currently in development across the country.

But, as the chain branches outside of Texas, the lone-star state is getting more Dickey's as well. Its latest addition is located at 3505 South Street in Nacogdoches.

New Co-Owner/Operators Jeff and Erik Moosa along with Denny Oil Company will be the man-power behind this new East Texas store.

"We are always looking for great business opportunities and when we heard about Dickey's and their formula for success, it seemed too good to pass up," Jeff Moosa said. "The franchise has done well in North, West and South Texas… so we figured East Texas was a sure thing. Plus, the Longview location has been received well."

Dickey's business model and success around the country has seemed to inspire most of Dickey's new Owner/operators to jump on the barbecue band wagon.

"We have so many new Owner/Operators who are investing with us. In this economy, we are glad people trust us for success. It is a great feeling to help people stand on their own two feet and become their own boss," President of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurant Inc Roland Dickey Jr said.

With the unemployment rate at a frightening high, Dickey's and their entrepreneurial partners are offering jobs to many and expanding when other businesses are shutting down.

"Our progress is surprising to a lot of folks, but it makes sense to us. People want to get out of the rat race," Dickey said. "In turn, these new stores are employing hundreds of people who otherwise would be on unemployment."

The first Dickey's Barbecue opened in 1941 in Dallas, TX.

The original location is still open for business and Dickey's Barbecue is still owned and operated by the Dickey Family.

Dickey's only began franchising in 1994, now there are over 122 locations in 23 states.

Even today, Dickey's still slow smokes all of their signature meats overnight in every restaurant.
